Visual Concepts Introducing Narrative-Driven Element in NBA 2K18 My GM
NBA 2K17 MyGM will feature a narrative driven element. NBA 2K18 is the very first game in the series to feature such an element within the franchise mode.
In recent times, creators of sports games have been adding stories in their singleplayer career modes. NBA 2K had two different franchise modes for some time now; My GM and My League. Both modes have grown similar to each other over the years but some changes are in order this time around.
MyGM mode is renamed as MyGM: The Next Chapter. Meanwhile, MyLeague will remain the same to offer the traditional franchise experience to its players.
MyGM: The Next Chapter puts you in the shoes of an ex-NBA player who is returning to the league after six years. His career ending injury took him off the field permanently but he’s back as a manager.
The new mode comes with cut-scenes where you can interact with your team’s owner, staff, and players, as well as the media in addition to other club’s GMs.
In a recent Facebook post, NBA 2K18 senior producer Erick Boenisch stated that “the intent is for an engaging experience that steers clear of the typical sports clichés you may be conjuring up in your head.”
He assured fans that personal decisions within the game are in your hands, and would not be dedicated by the story mode.
NBA 2K18 is scheduled to release on Sept. 19, 2017, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Nintendo Switch. There are different pre-order options available for the buyers.
Moreover, this year’s cover star is from Canada. DeMar DeRozan is the very first Canadian athlete to star on an NBA 2K cover. DeMar DeRozan is going to appear on this year’s NBA 2K18 cover.
