The Elder Scrolls 6 may have gone into development, finally. There is a new job listing posted by ZeniMax, the publisher of Bethesda Softworks, which indicates that a new AAA title is in development. The publisher is looking for a tools engineer to create an “AAA development environment.”
Previously, Pete Hines made it clear that The Elder Scrolls 6 is not in development. He confirmed that there focus is on other projects. However, now that we know which projects are coming out in the near future, is it time for The Elder Scrolls to shine in the limelight again?
Hines also confirmed that there are two big projects they have for release before The Elder Scrolls 6 goes into development. Interestingly, those two projects are on the verge of release – The New Colossus and Quake Champions – so it is good chance that The Elder Scrolls is in early production now.
Bethesda Game Studios Montreal is seeking a qualified Build/Tools Engineer for our team. The successful candidate will have knowledge of and experience in the design, implementation and continuing support of cross platform build systems, continuous integration build systems, automated testing, automated performance measurement and trending, profiling tools, patching systems, asset dependency and packaging systems, multiple branched environments, and source control integration. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work on game code/systems to support our initiatives to create a AAA development environment.
Whether this game is The Elder Scrolls 6 or some other project cannot be said for sure. The Elder Scrolls V released 6 years ago and to this day it is one of the most popular games in the modding community. It recently received enhancements on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Would you like to see The Elder Scrolls 6 after The New Colossus and Quake Champions?
