According to Director Cory Barlog, there are going to be more God of War Games. Speaking in a recent interview, he explained that he has an arc in mind and sees God of War PS4 allowing ways to expand on Norse Mythology.
The story revolves around Kratos and his son; during their journey, Kratos will try to bury the demons of his past and move on. This story can expand in different arcs which is why Cory Barlog decided to use this specific script. To him, the story is building toward the return Kratos for more games in the future.
There is a future of Kratos that will probably end of a trilogy.
For me, I am just trying to get this game done. But I will say that when I chose this story, I had chosen it because I already outlined and mapped out stories for multiple games. I have an arc in my head that goes well beyond this game and everything that we are doing in God of War, to me, is very much building towards that.
He went on to say that people never agreed with him on God of War 2’s ending but he thought it was great. A cliffhanger ending was something that gave fans an indication that there is more to come. Could this mean that we can expect a cliffhanger ending in God of War PS4? Possibly.
The new God of War PS4 will focus on the relationship dynamics of Kratos and his son. The game is exploring the Norse Mythology and ending the plot with just one game won’t do justice to the concept.
God of War PS4 is coming out next year for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
