Wii U might not have been as successful as much Nintendo was hoping it to be, but the company seems quite happy with the success of Nintendo Switch. However, that does not mean people have forgotten about Wii U which is still out in the market.
Just recently, Nintendo revealed the sales figures for its consoles and also discussed software sales for the respective hardware. According to Nintendo, Wii U has shipped a total of 13.56 million units as of June 30. As for the software sales for Wii U, a total of 99.97 million units have been shipped.
Furthermore, 3DS has shipped a total of 67.08 million units by June 30, 2017, and has a total of 335.10 million software sales till June 30. Also, Nintendo has revealed that for the first quarter of current fiscal year 3DS has shipped 0.95 million units and 5.85 million units for software.
Also, Nintendo has revealed that Nintendo Switch has shipped 4.7 million units till June 30 and the software sales for the hybrid console they stand at 13.60 million units of which 3.92 million units were Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and 3.54 million units were Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Also, there is a report making rounds on the internet that suggests Nintendo has increased the production of Switch to 18 million for the current fiscal year.
According to the report, Nintendo is gunning for an even higher sales figure for its current fiscal year and aims to produce 18 million units by the end of this fiscal year.
While Nintendo might have increased the production of the hybrid console, it is hardly surprising since Nintendo wants Switch to match 100 million units install base of the Wii console saying; “The truth is we want to raise the installed base of Nintendo Switch up to the same level as Wii”.
