While hosting a panel at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, Capcom announced three new sports costumes for Street Fighter V this week.
Laura takes Volleyball as the theme for her new attire, while Rashid sides with Soccer and Ibuki with Track and Field. They look pleasing enough but most importantly, this is the first costume for Laura that is not as revealing as her wares usually tend to be.
Besides the general populace, scantily clad characters have been causing issues for broadcasters as of late. During the Evolution Championship Series (EVO 2017) earlier this month, Ryota “Kazunoko” Inoue was asked by ESPN to change the costume of Cammy to make it safe for viewing for the online public.
Let us also not forget that children’s television channel Disney XD has recently joined the ranks of Street Fighter V. It would not be surprising if Capcom was requested by broadcasters to release costumes for certain characters that are appropriate for audiences. Laura is the first in that regard. Perhaps we might also see another similar ware makes its way into the game for Cammy.
Elsewhere, the 30th anniversary of the original Street Fighter is due at the end of next month. Anyone who logs in Street Fighter V on August 30 will automatically receive 30,000 bonus fight money as a reward. Capcom also has plans to release nostalgic costumes from the classic era, including the iconic Ryu stage.
Last week, Abigail from Final Fight was announced as the next downloadable character for the game. He is a gigantic brute that covers most of the screen. However, word on the street is that Capcom messed up by showing the wrong trailer. Abigail is still a hulking monster in the game but his anatomy is not quite as exaggerated as we were led to believe.
