Splatoon 2, the sequel to Nintendo’s surprisingly popular Wii U game Splatoon, will finally be releasing tomorrow for the Nintendo Switch. However, a few lucky players have already revealed how to beat the Splatoon 2 final boss, so if you’re not in the mood for spoilers, stop reading this article now!
One of the many things Nintendo revealed before the game came out was that there will be two new squid sisters in the game, instead of Callie and Marie from the original game. Pearl and Marina have replaced the previous squid sisters, who disappeared following the final Splatfest nine months ago (which asked players who they preferred, Callie or Marie).
It turns out that both squid sisters are alive and well, however Callie is a part of the Splatoon 2 final boss, the one that you will be fighting if you decide to play through the game’s story mode, in addition to the multiplayer mode that’s the game’s main draw.
In order to beat the Splatoon 2 final boss (DJ Octavio, who was the final boss of the previous Splatoon story mode), you’ll have to shoot at the fists of the giant robot that Octavio is piloting until Marie can swing in and shoot off the hypno-glasses that are making Callie turn evil. Once that’s done, the two sisters will join back together and provide the background music for the boss fight.
While it’s likely that Pearl and Marina will remain the squid sisters for the rest of Splatoon 2’s run, taking over Splatfest duties and all the little tidbits of goofiness that Callie and Marie provided in the original Splatoon, it’s good to know that Callie and Marie will remain a part of the Splatoon world.
In the meantime, be sure to pick up Splatoon 2 on the Nintendo Switch when it releases tomorrow, on Friday!
