Bethesda has released a new Evil Within 2 trailer shedding more light on the game’s story and the horrors that await the players once they go back into the game’s horrifying world. As previously mentioned by the game’s FAQ, the story this time revolves around Sabastian looking for his daughter.
The 2 minute long Evil Within 2 trailer, titled Survive, doesn’t really showcase a lot in the gameplay department but does a decent job of giving us a look at the various mind numbing horrors we will be fighting against as well as a look at some of the characters. The trailer also seems to hint that something in Sebastian’s past, related to his daughter, continues to haunt him. The official description of the Evil Within 2 trailer mentions:
Plagued by memories of the daughter he couldn’t save and a mystery he could never solve, he begins to lose himself in his past mistakes. Sebastian lives out his nightmares every day, unable to pull himself from his downward spiral. Until an old friend-turned-traitor reenters his life with an offer: Return to the nightmare and save your daughter.
Yesterday, some new screenshots for the game were released showing that the game still retains the horror and creepiness factor which made the first game so popular. Given all the gameplay footage and screenshots since the first reveal of the game, it seems like Evil Within might be a serious contender for horror game of the year alongside Resident Evil 7.
One of the most anticipated changes in Evil Within 2 seems to be the game’s departure from the extremely linear design of the original, giving players a lot more freedom. Exactly how much of that is true and whether the game lives up to the hype will become clear when it releases on 13th October for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
