A minor update was rolled out a couple of hours back to adjust the landing page of the official Blizzard App in order to display more games for consumers.
Previously, the “Games Tab” had just enough retail space to display six of the core games from the company. This included Diablo III, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, StarCraft II, and World of Warcraft. The new update reduces the size of the game icons, effectively allowing the inclusion of at least another six games in the column.
The patch notes read as follows:
- The game icons are smaller, allowing us to display more on screen in the Games tab.
- There is now a collapsible state in the Games tab navigation allowing you to hide the game’s title.
Was this update necessary? Definitely. As mentioned above, the previous landing page made it difficult to showcase additional games without including some kind of slider. In May, it was announced that the highly anticipated Destiny 2 sequel will be released on PC through the official Blizzard App. Thanks to the new update, there is now room for not just Destiny 2 but also other games that Blizzard may bring in the future.
As previously revealed, Destiny 2 will utilize all the social features of the Blizzard App that we currently enjoy in other games. In addition, purchasing of expansion packs and optional cosmetics will be handled through the platform as well.
Destiny 2 is scheduled to release on September 6 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version is slated to arrive soon after. There are also rumors that Blizzard is already working on Diablo IV, and it may feature a persistent world with expansive open-world opportunities.
