Following his reveal during the Evolution Championship Series (EVO 2017) over the weekend, Capcom has released more statistics and details on Abigail.
The next downloadable character in the ongoing second season of Street Fighter V will feature the highest vitality in the game. Seeing how Abigail is much larger than the likes of Zangief and Birdie, it only makes sense to grant him additional health points.
According to the developer, the hulking brute will boast a vitality of 1100. He will, though, require more damage than any other character in the game to take down. It all comes down to his grappling moves, which is staple to defeating opponents.
Abigail has two command grabs but what makes his really intimidating is his “Nitro Charge” run. The special move has one hit of armor and two for the EX version. In addition, it can be cancelled into four followups. Players can choose to opt for a punch, grab, overhead, or special. Capcom notes that Abigail may seem like a “one-trick pony” on the surface but he has various options to dish out pain on others.
Abigail thrusts his sizeable belly forwards (either high or low) countering the opponent’s attack and setting himself up for a combo opportunity.
V-Trigger: Max Power
After popping his two-bar V-Trigger, Abigail can charge up his four different heavy punches for one hit of armour and extended juggles. A full charge will break the opponent’s guard.
Critical Art: Abigail Special
Abigail slams his opponent with a downward open-palm strike that puts them into a daze. He then hoists them into the air, pummels them like a makeshift speedbag before launching a savage hook that shatters the screen.
Capcom has promised to share more details in the coming days.
The new character will join the Street Fighter V roster on July 25. He will bring his Story and Premium Battle costumes, as well as his own personal stage called the Metro City Bay Area. The same update will also introduce the Champion’s Choice outfit for Guile and nostalgia wares for Alex, Juri, and Ibuki.
