According to Sumo Digital, Crackdown 3’s world is twice as big as the city in the original game. In fact, it’s so big, that it’s the reason why Crackdown 3 has taken so long. Considering how large the original Crackdown was, players are going to have a lot of stuff to do.
The original Crackdown game took place in the fictional Pacific City, a city overrun with crime to the point that a special government agency (known creatively as “The Agency”) had to come in and take down the three crime gangs that had overrun the city. While there’s no telling how many criminals will be in Crackdown 3’s own city, they’re going to have a lot of space to fill.
According to Sumo Digital, Crackdown 3’s world has been expanded not just horizontally, in how long it took you to move from end to end, but also vertically, meaning that most of the buildings are twice as tall as the ones in the original Crackdown. For instance, the tallest building in Crackdown is half the size of the tallest building in Crackdown 3.
Of course, that doesn’t mean you’ll have to come up with your own ways to travel around the city. As a supersoldier from an organization with almost limitless resources, players will be kitted out with everything from a double jump, to an air burst, and more, not to mention the large amount of vehicles that will most likely be included.
Crackdown 3’s world will also be entirely open to players right from the start, so you can take on any of the three gangs when you think you’re ready, and can even get to the final boss, if you think you’re good enough.
Crackdown 3 will be releasing on November 7 for the PC and the Xbox One, so while we’ve got a lot longer to wait for more info (even if the game is going to be at Comic Con later this month), hopefully the game will be well worth the four-year wait.
