YouTuber TheRadBrad was able to get around 10 minutes of Crackdown 3 gameplay while the game was at E3, and so far it looks really impressive. Crackdown 3 is the long-awaited sequel to the Crackdown series, which hadn’t released a game in years after the lackluster reception of Crackdown 2, both critically and commercially.
So far, in the new gameplay Crackdown 3 seems like a return to form. Players take on the role of a member of the shadowy Agency, which is dedicated to bringing order to its city at any cost, even if you have to level large parts of it in the process. Players travel from location to location, bringing down gang enforcers with large amounts of firepower while also collecting orbs scattered liberally around the cityscape.
The game’s art style has also been changed, going from a more conventional color scheme into a somewhat Borderlands-like cel-shaded style.
Crackdown 3 will also include a first for the series in the form of destructible environments. Powered by Microsoft Azure, many buildings in the game will be destructible, and will even be able to take down other buildings as they collapse.
The Crackdown 3 gameplay not only shows us how the game looks, but also what you can do in it. Your Agent has a variety of abilities, ranging from the ability to airdash, to ground pound, to punch enemies yards away from you, and more. We also get a sneak peek of a load of weapons, including a shotgun, a rocket launcher, and most interestingly a black hole gun.
The Crackdown 3 gameplay that we’ve been shown in this video is some of the first that we’ve gotten that isn’t a concept stage, and the only real Crackdown-related media since the game’s debut at E3 2015 that wasn’t a commercial starring Terry Crews.
Crackdown 3 will be releasing on November 7 for Xbox One and PC. If you want to see the gameplay for yourself, look further up the article.
