Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is making a mark in the gaming industry even though it is still in early access. Recently we were told that the game will be out by October this year but it seems that Playerunknown does not want us to keep any specific month in mind as he does not want to disappoint the fans.
On a lighter note, he did confirm that Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds will be coming out before the end of Q4 this year. The way I see it, it does not matter if the team takes an additional few weeks if the final product is as close to perfection as possible. The week 15 update came out recently and it gave us some new information regarding what we can expect from upcoming updates.
Playerunknown said that the 6-month window seems a bit limiting but the game will be out before the end of the year. Here is what he had to say regarding the release of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds:
“Over the past few months I have done a lot of interviews and in many of them, I said we hoped to be out of early access six months after we first launched. I’ve come to realize that restricting the window to a specific month could hinder us from delivering a fully featured game and/or lead to disappointment within the community if the launch deadline is not met.”
This does make sense. It is very disappointing when a game release date is set and then the game is delayed. Fans do tend to be unforgiving when it comes to such cases. He further went on to say:
“We have decided that we are going push the full launch back a bit from the initial six-month timeframe, but want to assure you that we are still planning a full release before the end of Q4 2017.”
This might be the right move to make. You need to remember that developing a game is a very time-consuming thing and these kinds of things happen all the time. It is a good thing that we are getting word of this well in advance.
