AMD has been taking Intel head on in the CPU market. AMD Ryzen has been doing well against the mainstream Intel CPUs while Threadripper will be taking care of the enthusiast and workstation market when the CPUs come out later this summer. AMD Ryzen Pro CPUs are going to be announced and they are low powered CPUs that will be used in servers and workstations.
These CPUs are for professionals and companies that need their systems up and running all the time and the main keyword here is reliability. There are 3 different variants, the AMD Ryzen Pro 3, 5 and 7. AMD Ryzen Pro 3 is the entry-level version and is for normal everyday tasks like browsing the web and what not.
The AMD Ryzen Pro 5 is a mainstream CPU that can be used for content creation and advanced productivity. The Ryzen Pro 7 is the top variant in the series and is aimed at the power user that needs all that additional power. As these CPUs are aimed at the professional market you get additional things like Windows 10 enterprise security support.
The leaked slide reads 29th of June so these CPUs should be announced today. You can check out the leaked slide here. AMD has been out of the CPU scene for some time and now that the company is back in the CPU market it is great to see that the underdog is causing some disruption in the market.
AMD Vega is also expected to come out soon and I hope that it can disrupt the GPU market like AMD Ryzen has done in the CPU market. While there is much that we do not know about Vega, seeing how well AMD has performed in the CPU market one has to wonder what the company has in the works.
