Destiny 2 weapons won’t have any recoil on PC in order to make it feel right. According to project lead Mark Noseworthy, from pistol to shotguns there is no recoil. The reason behind this makes sense from gameplay design point of view on PC but it still feels odd to not include recoil.
The good news is that recoil might be added to some weapons but most of them will have none. Speaking in a recent interview, Noseworthy confirmed that while the recoil feels good on controllers, players won’t like losing control of the mouse while shooting. This led to their decision of not adding recoil on PC but it is present on consoles.
there’s no recoil on guns on PC because recoil on the controller feels really good. ‘I’m firing, I’m firing, I’m firing, oh, I’m losing control of my gun a little bit.’ That feels great, especially with magnetism and all the magic in the controller that makes you feel it. With a mouse and keyboard, you don’t want the mouse moving without you moving it, so recoil doesn’t feel good, so there is no recoil on PC.
There are three types of weapons in Destiny 2, Kinetic Weapons, Power Weapons, Energy Weapons. The majority of these weapons won’t have any kick when shooting, as we now know. Destiny 2 is getting a beta this Summer which will give players a chance to try out the weapons to see how they feel.
Destiny 2 is a first-person action shooter in development at Bungie and is scheduled to launch this fall for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
