A standalone PS4 version of Modern Warfare Remastered has been leaked onto the internet, or more specifically its box art. The news comes after the double-pack of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered has been out for nearly 8 months on all of its platforms.
When both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare were released, they came out in a pack to offset the huge amount of backlash that Infinite Warfare got on its reveal. The games were utterly unable to be separated from one another, so if you bought one you also bought the other.
However, this leak of the PS4 version of Modern Warfare Remastered might be an indication that, since both games are eight months old, Activision has decided to allow people to buy them separately (especially since most of the backlash against Infinite Warfare has died down).
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which Modern Warfare Remastered is a remastered version of, is one of the most popular Call of Duty games, and one of the most well-regarded. When the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility function was revealed, Call of Duty games like Black Ops 2 and the Modern Warfare games ended up being some of the most requested.
According to the leak, the standalone PS4 version of Modern Warfare Remastered will be releasing on June 27, around a week away. So, if it’s true, we’ll likely be getting Xbox One and PC versions of the game around a month after.
So, if you’ve been holding off on getting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered in the hope that a standalone version would eventually be released, this may be for you if it’s actually truthful, rather than a fake photo. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare are both available on Xbox One, PC, and Playstation 4.
