Red Hook studios has released the Darkest Dungeon Crimson Court DLC, the first official DLC for the game since it officially released in the summer of last year. The DLC adds a variety of new content to the game, ranging from a new faction to a new location and new mechanics.
Darkest Dungeon is a dungeon-crawling roguelike RPG game where you take on the role as a member of a noble house. Your ancestor, bored with the tedium of noble life, ruined your ancestral estate by dabbling in things like necromancy, possession, witches, Lovecraftian horrors from the sea, and finally an enormous entity beyond comprehension.
Now, you must finance expeditions of adventurers to clear your estate, killing bosses, hordes of enemies, and upgrading your estate to take your home back.
The Darkest Dungeon Crimson Court DLC adds a variety of new mechanics to the setting, along with a new enemy faction that resides in a new area of the game: the Courtyard. Players will have to fight vampiric monsters, making sure all the while that they aren’t infected by the same insidious craving for blood. If they’re infected, not only will they also start to thirst for it, but a new boss, the Fanatic, will begin hunting your characters down.
The DLC also comes with a new way to build up your manor’s Hamlet, and a new adventurer to add to your roster, called the Flagellant, who wounds himself while using the power of his blood and faith to support your party and damage enemies.
If you want to brave the various horrors of the Darkest Dungeon Crimson Court DLC for yourself, the DLC just released today, and is available for $9.99 or your regional equivalent. The game is available on PC, Playstation 4, and Playstation Vita, and the DLC is available on all versions.
