It’s no secret by now that once again there will be exclusive Destiny 2 content on the Playstation 4 version of the game when it comes out. However, we now actually have a rough date for when that exclusive content will be coming to the game’s other two platforms: Xbox One and PC.
Playstation 4-exclusive content has been a part of Destiny since the game’s first year, with Playstation players getting exclusive missions, gear, weapons, and items that Xbox players didn’t get until several months after release.
These items normally included special exotics, new Strikes and missions, and more. The exclusive Destiny 2 content will be no exception. It will include a Strike, an exclusive multiplayer map, and a special ship. However, even with a release date, things like this have been getting more debate lately.
Considering the large amount of time that it takes for console-exclusive content to come to other consoles in the industry, many people such as Xbox president Phil Spencer have claimed that the practice of console-exclusive DLC, even if it’s timed, hurts business and the games in general, as it might impact sales of the game or a console.
Hopefully, with the content that’s being promised with Destiny 2, some gamers will be able to at least wait for the exclusive Destiny 2 content to make the jump to PC and Xbox sometime next year. And, at least it’s better than the previously quoted estimate, which said that the exclusive Playstation content would be exclusive until Fall of 2018, over a year and a half away.
Destiny 2 is supposed to be releasing September 6 of this year on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC, along with the Playstation 4 Pro and the Xbox One X. So, if you’re one of those people that will end up getting the exclusive Destiny 2 content for the Playstation 4, be a good sport about it.
