Bungie is hard at work on Destiny 2 and intends to improve upon everything that fans liked in Destiny and add new features to the sequel like the Guided Games System and more. The sequel will also feature a brand new weekly activity called “Flashpoints”.
Flashpoints are basically specialized missions which will be focused around a featured location every week in Destiny 2 and completing them will reward players. Game Director, Luke Smith, revealed Flashpoints during Kotaku’s E3 podcast.
Each week we have an activity called a Flashpoint, which we haven’t talked about really yet, but the Flashpoint is basically like a featured destination, a featured location. Then there’s a whole class of stuff that shows up when it’s the Flashpoint that’s unique, treasure maps to go find, special monsters that show up…
He further added that the reward for Flashpoints will be the equivalent of ” an unknown reward from Nightfall”, meaning it will be key to progressing in the game once the late game content for Destiny 2 starts to roll out.
Also, devs have explained why the PC version of the game has been delayed. According to Vicarious Visions’ Thomas Gawrys, the reason behind delaying the PC version is that the expectations for the game are high and the studio wants to hit as many as possible.
The honest truth is we want it to land super solid. We want to meet the expectations of PC gamers — they have expectations for what they want and we want to make sure we hit as many of those as we can.
Destiny 2 is a first-person action shooter in development at Bungie and is scheduled to launch on September 8, 2017, for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and the PC version of the game will launch On October 24.
