Phil Spencer Getting a Little Carried Away Hyping Xbox One X, Calling PS4 Pro a Xbox One S Competitor

Microsoft is getting a little carried away with its 4K hype train. Microsoft showed the new Xbox One X at E3 2017 and it is a beautiful machine.

It is fine to market your console as the most powerful in the world, IT IS the most powerful in the world. However, Microsoft is getting a little carried away with its 4K hype train. Microsoft showed the new Xbox One X at E3 2017 and it is a beautiful machine but inessential.

However, that doesn’t stop Phil Spencer to say ridiculous things about its competitor. According to Phil Spencer, PlayStation 4 Pro is a Xbox One S competitor and PlayStation 4 Pro is not in the same league, “just look at the specs,” says Spencer.

I look at [PS4] Pro as more of a competitor to [Xbox One] S than I do to Xbox One X. This is a true 4K console. If you just look at the specs of what this box is, it’s in a different league than any other console that’s out there

Spencer touted his console’s superior GPU, CPU, RAM, and while those are facts, it is also a fact that Xbox One S is nowhere in the same league as PlayStation 4 Pro. Sony’s mid-gen upgrade has four times more GPU power than Xbox One S. PlayStation 4 Pro handles checkerboard 4K in the majority of its games and native 4K in select titles.

Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Xbox One S struggles to maintain 1080p and runs most of its titles on 900p. This is not only a very strained comparison but a deceitful one.

Xbox One X is releasing on November 7 for $500.
