Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference had its ups and downs; there were some great moments and there were situations that left us scratching our heads. 22 games were shown but it was hard to figure out which title is exclusive to Xbox and which ones are coming to other platforms as well. Microsoft used terms such like “Launch exclusive” and “Xbox Enhanced.”
It is smart but shady marketing of their new platform. If you had a hard time understanding Microsoft’s terms, let’s try to understand together. One of the terms used by Microsoft was “launch exclusive,” which means that the title is exclusive to Xbox One X, Xbox One S, and Xbox One for a limited time. Once the game is past the agreed upon time frame, developers can bring it to other platforms such as PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
The next term used by the company was “Enhanced,” which means the game is coming to Xbox One X, Xbox One, S, Xbox One, and other platforms. However, the title is graphically enhanced for Xbox One X. Last but not the least, the final and lesser used term during Microsoft’s press conference was “exclusive,” meaning a true Xbox exclusive (may also arrive on Windows 10) not releasing on PlayStation platforms.
Only a handful of games are true exclusives and most are coming to other platforms. You can check out the conference once again to see which games are true exclusives and which aren’t. Hope you can now better understand what Microsoft showed at E3 this year.
