Life is Strange prequel was leaked recently so we knew it was coming but didn’t know it would be at E3 2017. Microsoft has officially confirmed Life is Strange: Before the Storm. Fans would be happy to know that the game will be release later year.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm is going to run at 4K on Xbox One X but its frame rate remains unknown. Dontnod Entertainment has already announced that Life is Strange 2 is in development, continuing the story of Max Caulfield after the episodic adventure game Life is Strange finished up back in 2015. The game is not at E3 this year, but Dontnod is currently working hard on making the game as we speak.
The prequel, on the other hand, is being developed by Deck Nine.
Previously, Deck Nine Games was known as Idol Minds. The studio and its development team went under a rebranding recently to focus on narrative-driven games, like Life is Strange. The developers also mentioned that they are working on an addition to a critically acclaimed franchise but at the time we didn’t know what they were working on.
Deck Nine Games aka Idol Minds is the creator of PlayStation 3 games Pain and Ratchet: Deadlocked HD. Jeff Litchford, vice president at Deck Nine said:
With the creation of our new, proprietary toolset StoryForge and the shift in studio focus, we are removing the shackles from our creative team and bringing together our two passions; meaningful storytelling and rich gameplay.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm is releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and PC in August. It is a short game with only three episodes.
