Brendan Greene Announces PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox One Port
Brendan Greene, also known as PlayerUnknown, just announced that there would be an exclusive PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox One port coming soon to both the Xbox One and the Xbox One X, the new 4K variant of the Xbox One. Battlegrounds had previously been exclusive to PC, and is in early access.
The game has become extremely popular over the course of its run, making over eleven million dollars in sales in just three days and becoming one of the most-streamed games on Twitch. The game allowed a hundred players to be dropped into an eight-by-eight kilometer island to see who would be the last man standing.
Considering the popularity, it’s not really a surprise that there would eventually be a PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox One port. It IS, however, something of a surprise that the port would be Xbox-exclusive, rather than being available for the Playstation as well.
This will most likely cut down on any cross-platform demands between the Xbox One and the Playstation 4, though the existence of the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox One port will likely make it be cross-platform compatible with the PC version. We may get more information in the future, but for now look forward to the Xbox One version of the game coming late this year.
