Blizzard Entertainment has posted job openings for a new Blizzard game, another first-person title like their last one, Overwatch. We don’t really know what the game is or what it’s about, but Blizzard is looking for a senior technical artist that specializes in animation, and they have to be familiar with Blizzard lore.
There’s no telling what the new game from Blizzard actually is, but at least some people may see the fact that it’s first-person as a sign of the return of Starcraft: Ghosts, a game from Blizzard that was supposed to be a first-person shooter involving Nova.
However, Ghosts never materialized, and so whatever the new Blizzard game is it could be either a re-vamped version of that, or something entirely different. It could still be StarCraft related, it could be a game set in the Overwatch universe, or it could be none of those and might instead be a Warcraft game.
Plus, Nova’s already had her time in the spotlight with the Nova DLC mission packs for Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void.
Any of these three franchises will require being knowledgeable about the lore of whatever universe it will take place in, and even in a game like Overwatch where the lore takes a back seat, it’s still fairly important to the current world in the game.
Either way, we’ll have to see what Blizzard announces, either at the next BlizzCon or at some other major gaming event. There’s a whole lot of different games that could be made out of this job listing, but we likely won’t hear about it until Blizzard is ready to show us.
Hopefully that time will be sometime soon, but in the meantime we’ll just have to wait and see what the new Blizzard game ends up being, and hope that it’s just as good as the other games Blizzard has come out with.
