Ubisoft is looking to reinvent the Far Cry franchise with the upcoming Far Cry 5 and the game’s premise also sounds promising. While not much story details have been revealed by Ubisoft but, the studio has revealed that Far Cry 5 story is being penned by Bioshock Infinite writer.
Drew Holmes is the one who is penning the Far Cry 5 story. Drew Holmes has a lot of experience under his belt. Holmes started out from Volition, who is the developer of the Saints Row franchise. He has also worked as a writer for both Red Faction: Guerrilla and Saints Row the third. he also worked alongside Ken Levine on Bioshock infinite.
In related news, Ubisoft has revealed that Far Cry 5 will feature full character customization in which the players can create their character the way they like. Players will be able to choose gender and adjust the appearance before starting the game.
According to Ubisoft, players will be able to create the character and customize it as per their need before entering the game. Also, players will be able to do this for both solo and co-op mode which will be available for the entire singleplayer campaign.
However, Far Cry 5 will not support local co-op and players will only be able to play online co-op. Ubisoft co-op will only be playable through online and players will not be able to play co-op locally. However, no reason behind this decision was revealed hopefully Ubisoft might include local co-op in future.
Ubisoft has also revealed that the game’s protagonist will not be an average Joe but will be a junior deputy who will be going in as support a warrant against the Father, game’s antagonist.
Far Cry 5 is an open-world action adventure game in development at Ubisoft and is scheduled to launch on February 27, 2018, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
