AMD Ryzen has become increasingly popular with PC builders and enthusiasts that need that extra power but do not want to pay too much of a premium. We recently talked about AMD Ryzen price cuts and it was thought that because AMD has announced Threadripper they are dropping the price for Ryzen CPUs, but that is not the case.
You will find articles all over the internet talking about price drops for AMD Ryzen CPUs but AMD has made it clear that there has been no such drop in prices. If you think about it, this would make little sense as AMD Ryzen and Threadripper cater to different types of people. AMD Ryzen 5 and 7 are for the budget builders and Thraedripper is for the professional market instead.
AMD Ryzen price cuts due to the anticipation of the upcoming AMD Threadripper CPUs would make little sense. This has been confirmed by the company and AMD has said that this is most likely due to a retailer’s sale on the product. According to AMD:
We have noted some speculative articles appearing commenting on AMD’s pricing following Computex and would like to reiterate that Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 pricing remains unchanged.
So there you have it folks, the pricing for AMD Ryzen CPUs is going to stay the same and there will be no AMD Ryzen price cuts. AMD went on to say that:
Any promotional deals or special pricing on Ryzen processors is partner/retailer driven within their business.
Now the confusion has been put to rest. Some of you might be bummed by this article but it is what it is. You might find some deals at individual stores.
Let us know how you feel about the fact that there are no AMD Ryzen price cuts. Looking forward to finding out in the comments below!
