Sources: Project Scorpio Price Won’t Go Above $500

While there is plenty of know about Microsoft's console, Project Scorpio's price is something still being kept under wraps.

While there is plenty we know about Microsoft’s console, Project Scorpio’s price is something still being kept under wraps. However, numerous reports mention that the console will sell for a significant amount of money. An analyst recently predicted that Microsoft’s Project Scorpio price will exceed $500 and he had some solid reasons to back up his statement.

The premium resolution is for premium users apparently, according to an industry analyst, Project Scorpio price may shock the community and it could very well retail for $700 or more. According to IDC’s Lewis Ward:

I estimate the basic hardware will cost around $650, so if Microsoft wants any kind of margin at all, Scorpio will have to retail for $700 or more. If you look at the Alienware Aurora, which is a solid VR-ready PC, that currently costs about $1,000. I think Scorpio will come in below that, but how much below is unknowable at this point

However, we have received word from our sources close to Microsoft Studios that their publisher is not planning to exceed $500. While our contact wasn’t able to confirm a specific number, it was assured that the company will remain below $500.

The report from our sources comes right after Windows Central editor himself shot down rumors that Microsoft will go over $500. A few days ago, Jez Corden‏ from Windows Central, also mentioned that Project Scorpio price will shock people but in a good way.

He pointed out that “Xbox is subsidized, PCs aren’t. If you think MS is gonna price this above $500 you’re in for a shock.”
