AMD Ryzen ThreadRipper 16C/32T Variant To Cost Just $849?

AMD Ryzen ThreadRipper was announced at Computex 2017 and we have got a basic understanding of what we can expect from these CPUs. There is still much that we do not know about these chips. The price is a factor that will be a major role in deciding whether AMD Ryzen ThreadRipper is going to be a hit or a miss. Reports suggest that the price will be $849.

If this is indeed the price for the AMD Ryzen ThreadRipper in question here then this could be really bad news for Intel as this is very competitive pricing from AMD. Taking a loot at the top of the line X series CPU that Intel has to offer, Core i9-7980XE, we know that it has 2 more cores and 4 more threads but it is priced at $1999.

The AMD Ryzen ThreadRipper CPU is $1150 cheaper than what Intel has to offer and for this amazing saving, you could get a lot of stuff. You could buy a GPU and motherboard. You could even get a decent 4K screen and still have money left over. $1150 is such a huge saving that you could build another system with this money.

Until we have confirmation regarding this pricing, you should take this news with a grain of salt. But one thing is for sure, if this is indeed the price of the CPU then Intel has had it for sure. The price to performance numbers will speak for themselves. We have seen the kind of performance AMD Zen has to offer with Ryzen 7 and we expect similar if not better results.

This goes to show that the battle between Intel and AMD is just going to get intense as time goes by. AMD will also be revealing AMD Vega at SIGGRAPH in late July so stay tuned for more information.
