XUR comes and goes freely and this week he can be found in the Tower in the Hangar area in the lounge. Destiny 2 has been getting a lot of attention since its gameplay reveal and Bungie has been revealing new details about the upcoming game. The studio has also explained the reason behind the lack of dedicated servers. According to the studio, the game will use one of the Destiny servers meaning players will never again suffer a host migration during their Raid attempt.
Every activity in Destiny 2 is hosted by one of our servers. That means you will never again suffer a host migration during your Raid attempt or Trials match. This differs from Destiny 1, where these hosting duties were performed by player consoles and only script and mission logic ran in the data center.
The Studio further added that they are not using the term “dedicated servers” for Destiny 2 is that the game uses a hybrid of “client-server and peer-to-peer technology”.
Destiny 2 is a first-person action shooter in development at Bungie and is scheduled to launch on September 8, 2017, for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The PC version of the game will launch at a later date.
