A possible Super Mario Odyssey release date might have just been revealed, showing that the newest Mario game from Nintendo will be releasing this November. While it’s just a rumor, it’s the first indication of a release date we’ve had for the game since it was announced in January.
Super Mario Odyssey was one of the games that Nintendo unveiled when they held their Nintendo Switch press event in January. At that event they announced a number of other games, gave others release dates, and told us everything about the Switch.
Super Mario Odyssey will be taking Mario out of the Mushroom Kingdom and into “our world”, where he has to once again rescue Princess Peach from Bowser, before he can marry her forcefully. He’ll be assisted in this journey by his hat, which has become sentient and will serve as a traveling companion.
Considering how long it’s been since we’ve gotten a Mario game, a possible Super Mario Odyssey release date may be one of the system sellers that the Switch has besides The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The system has been flying off of shelves almost as fast as it can be stocked, and stores might face even more supply difficulties if Super Mario Odyssey comes out in November, around the holiday season.
The holidays of each year are some of the biggest times in gaming, with many big-name titles releasing around that time to get as potential Christmas gifts. If the Super Mario Odyssey release date is accurate, the game will be part of that rush.
We’ll likely get more information on when Super Mario Odyssey is supposed to release when E3 rolls around in two weeks, but in the meantime Nintendo and Mario fans can hold their breath and wait until Nintendo actually gives us concrete information.
