Multiple reports on Reddit, Facebook, and Twitter are mentioning a freezing issue after PlayStation 4 update 4.70. The problem seems to be relatively widespread and Sony is yet to figure out a fix for users. However, there are three unofficial workarounds that could help you deal with the problem.
The first thing you can do is turn off your system and boot into the safe mode. From there, restore storage, restart the system and boot back into the safe mode. Now, install the update by using the internet. This should fix the issue for some of you but if not, there are two other things you can try.
You can also boot into safe mode but remove the LAN cable or turn off the router if you are using WIFI. While in the safe mode, rebuild the database and your system you work just fine but even if that doesn’t work, resort to the last option but only if you have an external hard drive attached.
Disconnect your external hard drive and start in safe mode and download the update via internet.
PlayStation 4 Update 4.70 is a mandatory update which introduces system stability as well as some new icons for PlayStation-owned apps. There is nothing noteworthy about the update except the freezing issue. Sony is yet to offer a proper fix for the problem but the company should release a hotfix soon.
Use the above-mentioned workarounds and let us know if any of them managed to help you out. If you have any other fixes, don’t forget to share it in the comments below.
