We recently talked about Nvidia GTX 1080 Max-Q that we thought was in one of the recently launched laptops. Back then it was just a rumor but now it has been confirmed that Nvidia Max-Q technology exists and that it will allow the upcoming laptops to be thinner and more powerful as compared to what we currently have in the market.
How thin will Nvidia Max-Q technology make laptops? You can think about the upcoming gaming notebooks to be as thin as the MacBook air. This depends on the manufacturer of course and how the maker decides to use the space. Nvidia has said that the performance increase will be a significant one and we can expect up to 70% better performance from gaming notebooks.
Notebooks that use the Nvidia Max-Q technology will start rolling out after 27th June. Which is not too far off. We have also got confirmation that these Nvidia Max-Q technology-based laptops will feature the GTX 1080, GTX 1070 as well as the GTX 1060. These GPUs will be based on the 16 nm process and they will use GDDR5X and GDDR5 memory.
The fun does not stop here, not only is the hardware being updated but the software for this new hardware is also being optimized so that you can get the best synergy possible. In the upcoming few weeks, Nvidia drivers will be coming out that will optimize the experience for these upcoming gaming notebooks.
Nvidia also talked about the new Whisper Mode technology. If the name does not give it away, this is a mode that will keep your laptop silent while gaming. This means that you are getting a thinner laptop that has better performance than what we have seen so far and it will also operate quieter. All this sounds too good to be true and we are waiting to test one of these notebooks.
Let us know what you think about the upcoming Nvidia Max-Q technology based laptops and whether or not this is something that you might be interested in.
