With E3 approaching and all the year’s big games coming with it, some leaked Star Wars Battlefront 2 footage has been revealed, showing off some motion capture footage featuring a holographic Emperor Palpatine. Battlefront 2’s story campaign will focus around the aftermath of the Battle of Endor and Palpatine’s death.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be a much expanded game from the first, which got criticism from a lack of maps and planets and eras. Battlefront 2 will not only have more planets, more heroes, and the ability fight across all three eras of Star Wars movies, but will also have a story mode.

The leaked Star Wars Battlefront 2 footage appears to be coming from the story mode, particularly the Emperor Palpatine motion-capture footage. Considering that Palpatine is dead by the time the story mode takes place, and the droid model the message is coming from, Inferno Squad may be getting their missions from that same droid in the game.

Inferno Squad is an elite squad of stormtroopers who will be the central characters of the story campaign. The story campaign will bridge the 30-year gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, showing the end of the Galactic Civil War and the rise of the First Order. The leaked Star Wars Battlefront 2 footage is, after all, only one part of the game.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is EA and DICE’s opportunity to get back into the good graces of the Battlefront crowd, who were sorely disappointed by the seemingly lackluster first game. While that game got improved with numerous planets, heroes, and weapons over various DLC packs, many players this time around will be expecting a game more fleshed out from the very beginning.

Hopefully, with the story campaign, three eras to play through, more heroes, and everything else that will be coming with the game, DICE and EA can make the game that the first Battlefront should have been.
