Fire Emblem Echoes Act 1 Guide to help you learn everything you need to know about clearing the Southern Outpost, Southern Zofia, Zofia Gate, and Zofia Castle. In this Shadows of Valentia Guide, I have discussed some of the tips to win the toughest battle of the first act.

At the end of the 1st Act, you will learn a shocking revelation and defeat a tough boss. Do note that this walkthrough guide does not cover the locations of all available items in the game so make sure to keep an eye out for them.

Southern Outpost Interior

After heading inside, collect the nearby items and proceed inside the War Room to pick up some more items. Now head to the dungeon to find Clair. Examine your surroundings to find some items including the key to Clair’s cell. Once done, speak with the nearby soldier and head to the Entrance to speak with Gray and Tobin. From there, head out of the World Map.

Southern Zofia

Firstly, equip the weapons that you found in the Southern Outpost Interior and move your units far enough towards the rampart so that you can engage them. At this point, your units should land Critical Hits on Level 1 units of the Zofian Army. Once done, use Clair and Silque to deal a Cavalier on the northwest edge of the map. After the battle, meet with Fernand and move on.

In the second battle, you will face six Level 1 Zofian Cavaliers who do not pose much of a threat, even mounted. Once again, put your strong melee units forward and protect Mages, Archers, and Clerics. Moreover, try to peel for Clair and allow her as many killing-blows as possible. To start, head towards the bridge and make your way northwest to come across a couple of Cavaliers.

Try to dispose them off at the earliest and do not let the additional units to cross the bridge. Once done, head towards the north side to reach Zofia Gate and eventually towards the Zofia Castle.

Zofia Gate

After the cut-scene, head to the gate and prepare for a tough battle. There are two different ways to approach this battle. You can either enter through the left door or proceed from the right-hand side of the wall. However, do note that some of the doors will remain inaccessible unless you perform the ‘open’ command.

You need to start by having your Pegasus Knight Clair cross the wall to unlock the lower-left door. Once done, leave the Archer, Silque and send your units to the southwest door. Your Archer and Silque need to deal with enemy Archer on the right-hand side. I have found the Steel Bow or the Iron Bow to work wonders here. Once you are done with the Archer, focus on the Cavalier.

However, while dealing with the Cavalier, do not forget about Slayde waiting at the backside. Slayde is capable of traveling to 8 tiles that can cause several problems. In order to deal with Slayde effectively, you need to ensure that you do not alert any nearby enemy units. Despite his high DEF and RES, you should manage to defeat him with proper support. As soon as this happens, Desaix will retreat.

With both Desaix and Slayde out of the way, deal with other enemy units – starting with Archers, Knights, and leaving Arcanis for the last. As for dealing with the armored units, try to pair up a Mage with Clair. Once done, it is time to head inside the Zofia Castle.

Zofia Castle

Once inside, speak with the Young Man and the Zofian Solider followed by collecting all the items in the area. From there, head to the Central Hall to trigger a cut-scene. After the cut-scene, speak with the nearby villagers and collect both the Steel Lance and the Iron Shield. Finally, head to the Throne Room to speak with the Old Timer to learn about a shocking revelation.

Once done, head up the staircase to the balcony on the northwest side to speak with your visitor. After a brief cut-scene, it is time to check up on Celica.
