Injustice 2 has cemented itself as the best-selling game across all formats in the United Kingdom, following its official release only last week.
It appears that NetherRealm Studios has discovered an effective formula to topping sales charts. Injustice: Gods Among Us, the first in the series, also saw a great debut back in 2013 when it made the top rung across all formats. Even more impressive is the fact that the studio’s last offering, Mortal Kombat X, experienced similar success a couple of years back.
The weak debut of Street Fighter V last year created a void that left a lot of disappointed fighting game fans. There were several lessons to learn from and NetherRealm Studios likely capitalized on the situation.
Injustice 2 is not only selling well but also being praised for its amazing single-player campaign and fighting mechanics. The sales charts have more to do with the sequel being a good game and less with the notion of a starved fighting game community.
The developer recently confirmed Red Hood to arrive as a downloadable character in the near future. Other characters who have already been confirmed to arrive at an unannounced later date include Starfire, Black Manta, Spawn; and two guest characters from the Mortal Kombat univers, Sub-Zero and Raiden.
Injustice 2 is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There is still no news on a PC version.
