Blizzard Explains Why Overwatch Graphic Novel Was Canceled

Back In November, Blizzard announced the cancellation of Overwatch Graphic Novel, First Strike, and now the studio has explained why.

Overwatch has been quite a successful endeavor for Blizzard Entertainment and the studio intends to support the game with new maps and playable characters. If you are still not decided on the game then you can check out the game for free this weekend. Back In November, Blizzard announced the cancellation of Overwatch Graphic Novel, First Strike, and now the studio has explained why.

Speaking with Polygon, game director, Jeff Kaplan explained that canceling the Overwatch Graphic novel was a very difficult decision. He added that the reason to cancel the novel had less to do with the content it featured but had “more to do with the way that it would have limited us. It was a very specific, contained story”.

We sort of saw Overwatch really open up to the world, and listening to players and the stories they were telling and what they imagined the Omnic crisis to be really made us second guess what we were doing in First Strike. We thought, ‘Hey, if we go down this path, it really closes all these doors.

He added that part of the “magic is that everything is not tied off and explained to players. There’s a lot going on in Overwatch right now where I think that the story in players’ heads is often even cooler than what we can deliver to them”.

In related news, recently, Overwatch game director, Jeff Kaplan, revealed that Symmetra fans will soon get some good news saying “I think Symmetra fans will be very pleased soon”. While it is very unspecific but given that the Kaplan mentioned it in the thread where lack of Legendary Skin for Symmetra was being discussed we might see new skins for the character.

Overwatch is a first-person multiplayer shooter developed by Blizzard Entertainment for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
