DayZ mod support is one of the most demanded features and Bohemia is working on the providing what the community wants. However, these features are taking longer than originally expected. There is no final release date for both but Bohemia plans to launch dedicated servers and mod support shortly after the first public beta.
Players will be able to host their own dedicated servers for DayZ, according to Eugen Harton, Lead Producer of DayZ. Speaking with Segmentnext, Harton mentioned that the team always aimed to offer mod support alongside allowing players to host their own dedicated servers. And there plan, although delayed, hasn’t changed.
We’ve always aimed to offer mod support alongside allowing players to host their own dedicated servers. That plan hasn’t changed. Our reasoning behind the decision to wait is based on the ongoing large and sweeping technology changes that would make all mods made on current versions of DayZ obsolete. Shortly after the first public BETA release, we aim to offer both modding support and dedicated servers.
Keeping up with the technology is tricky as it keeps evolving on a regular basis. It is understandable why it has taken so long as the developers have a herculean task at hand with the development of the base game as well as introducing community demanded features.
DayZ is currently available on PC as an early access game. You can grab the title for $34.99 right now. What other features and improvements would you like to see in DayZ? Take to the comments and let us know.
