With the launch of Nintendo Switch, Nintendo bridged the gap between a handheld console and home console. Switch has been quite very successful financially for Nintendo as the console managed to beat Xbox One and PS4 in the US in March and now it has done it again in the month of April.
According to the NDP Group, Nintendo Switch was the best selling video game hardware in the month of April in the US with more than 280,000 units sold which marks the second month in a row in which Switch has led the gaming hardware sales in the US. Not only the hardware sales, Nintendo also lead the software sales in the US for the month of April.
According to the report, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which launched for Switch on April 28, was the top-selling game in the US for the month of April with more than 550,000 units sold. Also, Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild was the third best-selling game in the US for the month of April.
It seems that the success of the console has got the attention of some of the major game publishers and developers. EA has already announced that it is considering to bring more of its titles to Switch and now Ubisoft has praised the console and acknowledged that the console has the potential to reach a wider audience.
And on top of this, as we have said for quite some time now, we will be delivering some great games for the Switch. The platform’s launch is going incredibly well and we believe the Switch has the potential to reach wide audience. As you know, Ubisoft has been the leading third-party publisher on Nintendo’s console over the past 10 years, and we intend to maintain that position. Again, our assumptions are reasonable and we can’t wait to tell you more.
