One thing that a lot of people can remember about EA’s rebooting of the Star Wars Battlefront series was that it was seriously lacking in content on launch. However, EA has promised that there will be three times as much Battlefront 2 content as there was in the first game.
The 2015 Battlefront game that EA released only had four planets, with no space battles, no story mode, and no option to play anywhere but the original trilogy era.
While new planets and maps were eventually added through DLC packs, and space battles were added in a similar way, many people look on the first Battlefront as a poor successor to the original.
The amount of Battlefront 2 content we’re being promised, however, points towards the possibility that EA has learned its lesson. From what we’ve learned so far, in addition to the story mode that we’ll be getting (following the Imperial Inferno Squad in the years after the Battle of Endor), we’ll be able to fight across all three movie eras, including the prequels, the original trilogy, and the sequel.
We’ll also be getting new heroes, chief among which are going to be Rey and Kylo Ren from the sequel trilogy. While the game is supposed to be coming in early September (again, releasing ahead of the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi), it seems that in the two-year gap between the original game and this one EA has stepped up its game.
With everything that they’re promising, it seems like the game is going to be similar to the original Battlefront 2: an improvement on the first game in every way.
We’ll most likely be seeing some of the Battlefront 2 content first hand when E3 2017 rolls around, so hopefully we can see some gameplay and exactly what makes Battlefront 2 different from the 2015 game then. Battlefront 2 will be releasing on November 17 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
