Creative Assembly Releases Total War Warhammer 2 Lizardmen Trailer

After an announcement earlier this week, Creative Assembly released the Total War Warhammer 2 Lizardmen trailer that shows off one of the principle factions that’s going to be in the sequel/expansion to the original Total War Warhammer game of 2016. The trailer, created in-engine, showed a battle between Lizardmen and High Elves.

Both factions will be major players in this portion of the Total War Warhammer series, along with two other factions: the wicked Dark Elves, and a fourth faction that’s been heavily implied to be the Skaven.

The focus of Total War Warhammer 2 will be centered around the Great Vortex, a magical whirlpool that contains the Winds of Magic and keeps Chaos from being able to intrude into the world. The Lizardmen and High Elves will be attempting to stabilize the weakening Vortex, while the Dark Elves will be attempting to destroy it.

The campaign will even taken us to the Old World from the first game, which brings in some naval combat, even if it’s going to be autoresolved.

The Total War Warhammer 2 Lizardmen trailer focuses around a battle between the Lizardmen and the High Elves at a place called the Fallen Gates, located on the Lizardmen’s home continent of Lustria. The trailer gives a good idea of what we can expect from both races.

The High Elves fight with discipline and precision, and make use of disciplined infantry along with various wizards and siege equipment, alongside giant eagles. The Lizardmen, true to their name, rely a lot on living weaponry such as giant dinosaurs or powerful spells to destroy their enemies.

While we don’t see much of the Lizardmen’s other units, like the Saurus warriors, any of their spellcasters, and more, we at least get a sighting of their two Legendary Lords, the Slann priest-king Lord Mazdamundi, and the Saurian Kroq-Gar, riding his Carnosaur Grimloq.

Hopefully in the next few months until the expansion releases we’ll be seeing more trailers and information about some of the most distinctive units. In the meantime, take a look at the Total War Warhammer 2 Lizardmen trailer above.
