Genji Gets Permanent Dragonblade Due to This Overwatch Bug

A newly discovered Overwatch bug makes Genji incredibly overpowering, making it necessary for the developer to release a hot-fix as soon as possible.

His ultimate ability is supposed to last for only a brief period of time. However, as some players realized, there is a way to make Dragonblade last indefinitely. In other words, Genji can permanently wield his deadly katana to lay waste to everyone.

The Overwatch bug is difficult to trigger because it requires a specific set of circumstances. Genji first needs to be hooked by Roadhog, who must die while pulling his target. At the same time, Genji must immediately execute both his Swift Strike and Dragonblade. It must be done within a very small time frame. However, when conducted properly, Genji continues to brandish his sword until the game ends.

As evident, the bug is fairly impossible to pull off in a competitive match. Nonetheless, lead software engineer Bill Warnecke has taken notice and promised to release a fix as soon as possible.

Dragonblade is one of the most lethal abilities in the game. The fast-swinging slashes hit all targets in a small cone in front of Genji for high damage. While the hero does have to get close and personal, landing the blade almost always results in an elimination. It can even be paired with Swift Strikes for additional damage, as well as surprising opponents by quickly closing the distance.

An Overwatch Game of the Year Edition surfaced recently, suggesting a release date later this month to celebrate the game’s first anniversary. Blizzard is expected to announce a new event in the coming days, with specially themed loot boxes and rewards.
