Reminder: Overwatch Season 4 Ends Later This Month
Overwatch Season 4 is scheduled to conclude in the last week of May, with official dates and timings to arrive from Blizzard in the coming days.
Posting on the official forums, game director Jeff Kaplan revealed that a timer will soon be added to the game. It should make it easier for everyone to keep tabs on when the season will be ending, and how much time remains for players to grind an additional tier. Once the current Overwatch Season 4 has concluded, the next season should commence from the first week of June.
As always, Blizzard will be rewarding Competitive Points based on the maximum skill rating achieved during the season. The following is the breakdown for the system:
- SR 1-1499 (Bronze): 100 CP
- SR 1500-1999 (Silver): 200 CP
- SR 2000-2499 (Gold): 400 CP
- SR 2500-2999 (Platinum): 800 CP
- SR 3000-3499 (Diamond): 1200 CP
- SR 3500-3999 (Master): 2000 CP
- SR 4000-5000 (Grandmaster): 3000 CP
Those who complete their placement matches before the end of the season will be eligible to receive a special spray and player icon. However, those who manage to place in the top 500 of a region will receive an additional animated spray and player icon. The rewards-theme for Overwatch Season 4 is Hanamura. All rewards will be sent out once the season ends, and automatically added to eligible accounts.
Take note that players must finish in the top 500 to be eligible for rewards. Previously, they only needed to hit the threshold once during the season. That aspect has been curbed and the system will now only entertain players who are still in the top 500 after the season has ended. The change was recently introduced to make rewards special, and to make sure that players stop trolling in games just because they had already become eligible for the ending rewards.
Overwatch boasts over thirty million registered players worldwide. In the company’s latest earnings report, Blizzard revealed that the new team-based shooter had crossed a major sales milestone to become its eighth billion-dollar franchise. The achievement is incredibly impressive, especially considering that the game was released just a year ago.
