Report: Assassin’s Creed Origins Might Be Set In Ancient Egypt’s 5th Dynasty
Just recently an alleged image of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Origins leaked online which got everyone speculating and also proved a couple of previous rumors true. However, the leaked image also gives us a clue about in which timeline the game will be set in Egypt.
As reported by GamingBolt, in the image we can spot objectives in the upper left corner. If you look closely it reads “Follow Shady to Khenut’s Villa”. This is the very clue that gives us the hint of Assassin’s Creed Origins’ timeline. Khenut was a queen in Egypt during the Fifth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, which ruled from 2494 to 2345 BC.
This indicates that the game’s time and overall setting. Khenut was the final ruler of the dynasty with the economy overall decline so there is a possibility that it will play a part in the story. In the image, there is another text that reads “assassinate the crocodile” which might be an objective for a side quest.
Given that it is a leaked image the gaming community is quite skeptical about its authenticity but according to Eurogamer’s sources, the leaked image is not fake and is indeed from the next Assassin’s Creed. If the sources are to be believed then we should prepare to head to Egypt this year.
Nothing officially has been revealed about the game except for some rumors that suggest the game will be set in Egypt and players will able to play as Altair’s ancestor. Ubisoft has already said that it is looking to reinvent the Assassin’s Creed franchise and might be delayed for another year if it is not up to par.
I’ll tell you what, We believe Alpha for these games needs to be one year before release. We’re trying to achieve that. That’s super f****** blunt, I don’t even know if I’m allowed to say this. This is the goal we’re going for: Alpha one year before, more quality, more polish.
So if this means biting the [bullet] and not having an Assassin’s game, or a Far Cry [in 2017], f*** it.
What are your expectations for the upcoming Assasin’s Creed game? Do you think Ubisoft will be able to bring something new to the franchise? Let us know in the comments.
