As promised, Capcom has officially revealed Ed as the next playable Street Fighter V DLC character for the game’s ongoing second season.
His fighting style is a mixture of traditional boxing, with a few kicks and projectiles that are based on his inert psycho powers. Ed is a unique addition to the roster because his special move inputs are designed for simplicity and accessibility.
Players are only required to either press buttons simultaneously, mash a single button repeatedly, or hold a button down to string combos. The traditional directional inputs, which take a bit of work to become familiar with, have been scrapped for the new Street Fighter V DLC character. This applies for all of his moves, except Critical Art.
V-Skill: Psycho Snatcher
Ed releases Psycho Power from his palm, pulling himself or opponents depending on how long he charges it up.
V-Trigger: Psycho Cannon
With a full V-meter, Ed releases an enormous amount of Psycho Power. He can follow alongside it, allowing him to pepper in shots when it connects with the opponent.
Critical Art: Psycho Barrage
Ed lunges forward with a series of punches. If at any point he connects, he’ll continue weaving around the opponent, slipping in quick combinations of Psycho-punches ending with a powerful uppercut.
Capcom has not forgotten about his hoodie from the game’s single-player campaign. That will be Ed’s story costume, while a premium costume will find him in the cape of the dictator.
Street Fighter V will host the second beta of its overhauled Capcom Fighters Network (CFN) from May 11-14. Unlike the first time, the second round will be free for players on both the PlayStation 4 and PC platforms. Those interested in participating will have the opportunity to try out Ed for the first time.
With today’s announcement, there are three more characters left for the game’s second season.
