A short video showing off some Darksiders 3 gameplay has been revealed by THQ Nordic (via IGN First), showing Fury as she makes her way through a collection of areas on her way to fight a boss. It actually sort of casts some doubt on the game’s 2018 release date, looking as good as it does.
Darksiders 3 will be taking us back to Earth after the Apocalypse of the original Darksiders, though before War is sent back to discover who launched the End War early. Fury will be going to Earth in order to hunt down the Seven Deadly Sins, who have escaped from their prisons.
In the Darksiders 3 gameplay we’re shown, she finds and kills Sloth, using her trusty whip to kill him and all of his bug minions. However, we don’t get to see any cool powers, or any unique abilities, or really anything besides combat so the gameplay is sort of bare-bones.
However, we do get a few little things. There’s a returning character in the game, the Maker Ulthane who made his first appearance in the original Darksiders. However, we don’t interact with him (aside from him telling Fury to watch her back). We do also get to see that Fury can use her whip to swing across gaps.
Being the path to a boss, the Darksiders 3 gameplay also includes a large amount of combat against a variety of enemies, ranging from regular demons to the sorts of bug-monsters that would be expected against an insectoid boss. The person playing does pretty well with the combat, though they do die at one point during the fight against Sloth.
However, the gameplay does give us a nice walkthrough on how to kill Sloth; you have to kill the beetles holding his chair up in order to get him to leave the chair and actually come at you so that you can kill him.
Darksiders 3 will be releasing on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC in 2018.
