A number of new Darksiders 3 screenshots have been released by IGN, showing off a variety of different environments and enemies that Fury will be traversing and fighting over the course of the game. Apparently created in Unreal Engine 4, each environment being extremely different from the others, from enemies to bosses.
Different environments aren’t really anything new to the Darksiders series; each game includes a number of different areas and environments that are quite different from one another, and it seems that Darksiders 3 will be no exception.
While Fury won’t be traveling through a place like the Kingdom of the Dead or through the glowing halls of an angelic outpost, all of the environments she passes through still appear to be pretty varied. The Darksiders 3 screenshots show at least three different environments.
One environment appears to be in the ruins of a building, filled with insect eggs (and at least one insect enemy), while another appears to just be a wrecked building. A third is set outside in a sunny environment, with the ruins of the human world overrun by nature in the aftermath of the Apocalypse.
Since the game is being made in Unreal Engine 4 it’s no real surprise that the game looks really pretty, even when the first two Darksiders games already looked pretty nice for their time.
In the game, Fury will be traveling across Earth before the events of the first Darksiders, hunting down the Seven Deadly Sins who have escaped from their prisons. A pair of the Darksiders 3 screenshots show Fury taking on some of the enemies in the game, with one being what looks like a boss and the other a run-of-the-mill minion.
Darksiders 3 will be releasing sometime in 2018 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but in the meantime we’ll have to wait and see if THQ Nordic gives us any more information, possibly at E3.
