Assassin’s Creed Origins Rumored To Be The Next Game In The Franchise Instead of Empire, Still Set in Egypt

If a recent rumor is to be believed, the next Assassin’s Creed game might be Assassin’s Creed Origins instead of Empire as many had previously believed. According to a reddit post where someone who works at a company that makes pre-order cards for stores, the company recently received orders to make cards for a new AC game titled Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Despite the name change, according to these cards the game will still be set in Egypt as the reddit user described a pyramid on the game’s cover. The person also mentioned that the main character in Assassin’s Creed Origins might also be able to wield a shield, bow and have a hawk as a pet.

While the game’s name might have been changed, everything else about this rumor seems to line up with previous ones which hinted at the game being set in Egypt and players being able to use a shield this time, which is weird for an assassin.

Supposedly, the cards are scheduled to ship on the 30th so the game’s announcement might be coming soon after that, most probably on E3 2017 as is usually the case with a new game in the franchise.

If Assassin’s Creed Origins is indeed happening, which it most probably is considering the franchise skipped 2016 from its annual release, retailers seem to suggest the game will be releasing in October 2017.

Some other rumors surrounding the game have mentioned the map will be pretty big, at least three times bigger than Black Flag. There was also a recent image leak which showed a look at the game menu but it was confirmed to be fake.

The reddit user who came forward with this information also mentioned that there were orders in for a new Far Cry game as well. However, the recently released image from the company does not relate to the new game.
