The Darksiders 3 reveal trailer has been launched by THQ Nordic after the game’s existence was leaked a short time ago. The trailer, which introduces the Third Horseman Fury, gives us a quick plot outline but not really much else, though the game will apparently be releasing at some point during 2018.
The trailer outlines how another one of the Four Horsemen, the lone woman Fury, is being tasked by the Charred Council to go to Earth and hunt down the Seven Deadly Sins, who have escaped imprisonment. This is sort of an interquel to Darksiders 1 and 2, which both take place alongside one another.
Unlike her brothers War and Death, Fury doesn’t wield a sword or a scythe; instead, she’ll be wielding a whip, which will also likely compensate for the fact that War and Death have the two guns of her third brother, Strife, who has yet to get a game of his own.
According to the Darksiders 3 reveal trailer, Fury will be going to Earth during the Apocalypse, when the armies of Heaven and Hell battle against one another with mankind caught in the middle. With War clearing his name, and Death seeking both to free his brother and rescue the souls of humanity, Fury’s own task seems a bit underwhelming. However, many Darksiders fans are probably just happy to have a new game.
Darksiders and its developer Vigil Games were caught up in the fallout from THQ’s collapse, and the future of the series seemed to be locked in limbo. However, when THQ Nordic was founded to regain control over its franchises, and with the success of the Darksiders Warmastered Edition of the first game, it seems they thought a third game was a good choice, with Gunfire Games developing it.
