Over the weekend, Phil Spencer made some interesting comments about the state of single player games like Horizon Zero Dawn and The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. In his eyes, games like Zelda Breath of the Wild and Zero Dawn aren’t as impactful as they were and perform inconsistently in the market. His comments sparked a debate that led to him clarifying his remarks.
In his clarification, he also mentioned that some people try to turn everything in console wars. Phil Spencer replied to those saying he is downplaying Xbox One’s lack of SP games: “Not downplaying anything. Some try to turn everything into console wars, I don’t. […] I apologize if that’s how you took my comments. That wasn’t my point. I honestly want all games to succeed.” He added that he may wear a Horizon Zero Dawn t-shirt at E3 2017. He was joking of course, but who known, he might actually come on stage wearing a Zero Dawn t-shirt. Such a move will surely have some interesting results.
Microsoft’s Xbox One press event is set for mid-June in LA at E3 2017.
@aceitman2 Feedback taken. Maybe I should wear a HZD t-shirt at E3.

Horizon Zero Dawn released on PlayStation 4 in early 2017. Horizon Zero Dawn player numbers are in millions and is currently among the most popular games on the console. Meanwhile, Zelda has sold more than Nintendo Switch. Singleplayer games are having a hard time against service games but they still hold their own place.
Would you live in a world without singleplayer games?
