After the cancellation of Prey 2, we are getting Arkane Studio’s Prey, which is a reboot and something that you might not have expected. The first hour demo has gone live for consoles and you can check out the game if you are interested in buying a copy. Right off the bat, we know that Arkane Studio’s Prey uses the CryEngine which does not have a great history on consoles.
CryEngine games have numerous issues, one that we have recently seen is the long loading times in Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. Arkane Studio’s Prey does seem a bit dated but you will be glad to know that the game uses the engine well and is fine overall. The Xbox One version of the game runs at 900p while the PS4 version runs at 1080p.
As of right now, the demo does not support PS4 Pro but that is something we expect to see when the full version of the game comes out. Talking about both console versions players will be able to notice that both versions are pretty much the same. There are some differences in shadows when it comes to the Xbox One version but the game looks pretty much the same.
Talking about how the game feels, users will be able to feel a slight lag in the controls of the PS4. The input seems sluggish and that is something I did not feel on the Xbox One. The game feels more responsive on Xbox One as compared to PS4. The game uses the engine well and the FPS is pretty much at 30 all the time.
Besides from the input lag on the PS4, there is not much to complain about there. Arkane Studio’s Prey seems like a great game and you should check it out if you are a fan of the original game.
