Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Sales Target Set at 2 Million Worldwide
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite has a sales target set at two million units worldwide, revealed an earnings call yesterday for the company’s fourth quarter.
The presentation, however, did not clarify as to how Capcom plans to achieve that goal. It should be noted that the sales target of two million units worldwide was also set for Street Fighter V last year, falling short even after crossing the game’s first anniversary.
However, Capcom has the utmost confidence in the success of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. The mix of popular characters and heroes from the Capcom and Marvel universe should probably do the trick. In addition, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite will be releasing for the Xbox One console. The extra platform, as well as well-placed marketing could possibly push the company to achieve its sales target.
Earlier this week, a new story trailer arrived to introduce the game’s setting and its main antagonist. Ultron Sigma is a villain that has fused itself with “the most menacing mechanoids from the Marvel and Capcom universes.” The imminent threat will see heroes from across worlds unite and fight together.
The developer also confirmed eight more characters that will be joining the game’s roster this year. They are Thor, Hawkeye, and the Incredible Hulk from the Avengers; Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy; Chun-Li from Street Fighter; Chris Redfield from Resident Evil; and Strider Hiryu from his manga. Ultron will also feature as a playable character.
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite will officially release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 19. It will be available in three different editions.
The Standard Edition ($59.99) will include just the base-game, but pre-ordering it will give owners access to the Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu costumes. The Deluxe Edition ($89.99) will feature the aforementioned two costumes as well as the Gladiator Hulk and Mission Command X costumes. It will also give owners access to the game’s Character Pass, which will cover six post-release characters. Finally, the Collector’s Edition ($199.99) will come with everything as well as four interlinking character dioramas of Megaman X, Chun-Li, Iron Man and Captain Marvel. The pricey edition will also include a set of special LED-powered Infinity Stones.
